Forget-Me-Not
Who knows where songs are born? How does a flower get a name? Sometimes we know, sometimes we have a little story that goes along with it. While gazing up into the sky, one morning, a melody came, and with it, words that I could not forget. As I wrote them down, I began to feel the garden inside me. I reached for Kakos, picked out the melody, and the tale unfolded like petals in the su. Gently. Insistently. It wasn’t very long, and it seemed as if this little song was speaking about my life, but it's something we all feel might feel at times. I’m so thrilled to share this song with the musicians Anthony Carlson, Rachael Simon, Chico Huff, and David Bopdrummer Yager. They each added a part of the story inside my music. I hope you will enjoy this art song, and find comfort with it, too!

Plus je t'embrasse - Let's Kiss Some More
I first heard “Plus je t’embrasse” sung by one of my favorite singers, Blossom Dearie. Right away I fell in love with the song, but somehow it sounded familiar. At last my drummer, David “Bopdrummer” Yager discovered why!
It turns out that the melody is from a song by Ben Ryan, an American composer, a big hit in 1926 - “The Gang That Sang Heart of My Heart”! The French lyrics were written by Max "François" in 1954, and as far as I know, specifically for Blossom! The meaning of the new French lyrics, inspired me to write a new English version... Et voila!! “Let’s Kiss Some More” was born in 2025 with lyrics by Andrea Carlson and inspiration from Ben, Max, and Blossom too
One of the greatest songs ever

I often find myself looking up… do you? It may be a sunrise, or an afternoon of puffy clouds that I search for animals, dragons, or even faces. Then, at night… I love to gaze at the sunset and into the deepness of the sky… ever changing, from moment to moment and then, into the stars. This is why I had to record “Stardust”. It’s so much of who I am. I love the sparkle, the mystery, and the glow…
I began by singing with just the acoustic bass and vibes. Then I reached out to orchestral arranger, John Conahan, with very specific ideas for the sounds and the feel, and asked him to experiment too! In the engineering booth, Glenn Barratt and I spent hours “playing” with the sounds John had spread before us! It was just like working on a painting!! (You may know I love to paint too!) Now I welcome you to follow me into the stars, and Hoagy Carmichael’s classic!
